Even before we could drive our passion for cars flourished. All we could think of is our first cars and the things we would do to them. Thinking back some of those ideas were ridiculous for kids with no jobs, and some down right impossible. After we did get our first cars the dumb things that we did. Street racing, speeding, driving like maniacs, and how many times we came close to losing our cars and license. I don’t think movies like The Fast and Furious helped much.
With time we matured and so did our passion for cars. This is when technology really started to boom. Many car forums and magazines started hitting the internet and stores. Till this day I remember seeing the cars and models on those covers and wanting my car on a cover with some model.
With digital cameras hitting the market we saved our pennies and bought our first cameras(These were the days you could hit more then 3 images onto a floppy). Being the “cool” kids we started taking photos of our cars and posting them online. We always fought to get the images that were on the covers of those magazines. Little did we know that posting images online would become something bigger.
In 2001, we created a small website/group call RomoRacing. It consisted of friends posting photos of their car and chatting on a forum. From there it got spread out to a larger crowd and people started signing up. In the back of our minds we thought this was amazing.
Shortly after 2004 RomoRacing started to go downhill. With the social networks taking over we had no way to compete. So we dropped our plans and joined the pack of myspacers, youtubers, and facebookers.
In 2005, we got a chance to go to SEMA. Which jumped started our passion for the automotive industry. After coming back from SEMA we created SoCalZine.com. At the launch of the site in 2006 not only did we cover automotive we covered Hollywood. Later that year we gave up on Hollywood and covered only automotive.
Now, SoCalZine had some hard times when it came to technology. We had the worst time with being online. We would be up or down, we would lose connections, move servers, move data centers, and loss everything.
The end of 2010 brought our biggest bump. We lost all our files when our hosting company was attacked by a virus. We sat down and said we will host everything. Being backed by our design studio we now designed and host our own site. To revamp everything we also renamed our site. We are stilling keeping the name of SoCalZine but we now also go by Daily-Driven.Net.
Our passion for cars will last till we take our last breath. Which I doubt this site will last that long, but as long as it does we will be covering the automotive world.
Now, after a long winters rest we are back as Socalzine and we are bigger then ever. We have teamed up with multiple websites and investors to become SoCals one stop for all your fun in the sun news, photos and videos.
